AquaSonic Black Series

I paid $200 for a Sonicare DiamondClean for years. My dentist told me my cleaning had been consistently good and I didn't need the expensive brush. I tried the AquaSonic on a whim. Year one — five stars. Year two — three stars. The chrome finish on my handle started peeling in patches around 14 months. At 18 months, a rattling noise developed in the motor housing. The brush still works but the rattle is annoying. The premium brands I've owned lasted 5+ years without any cosmetic or mechanical degradation. For the $40 price, one year of performance is still decent value, but buyers expecting longevity should manage expectations. It's not built for 5 years.

I travel internationally for work about 4 months of the year. The AquaSonic Black Series charges at home and lasts my entire trips — I've done 3-week stints without needing a charger. The included travel case protects it perfectly in checked luggage. Having 8 heads means I keep a few permanently packed in my travel bag. For frequent travelers, the 4-week battery life alone makes this worth the $40. I've been recommending it to my colleagues ever since.
