Recurring Issues

Common problems reported by multiple verified buyers

Smart Case Design

87 mentions

The bra-like Smart Case is widely criticized for exposing the headband and not protecting the ear cups adequately. Many users buy third-party cases.

Heavy Weight

54 mentions

At 385g, these are significantly heavier than competitors. Neck fatigue is reported by users wearing them for 3+ hours continuously.

Limited Non-Apple Functionality

41 mentions

Android users and non-Apple households lose most features: no spatial audio, no auto device switching, no Siri, and no EQ customization.

In the Apple ecosystem, nothing comes close

Pros

  • +Seamless switching between iPhone, iPad, and Mac
  • +Spatial Audio in Apple TV+ is incredible
  • +Build quality feels like a luxury item

Cons

  • -Smart Case is genuinely useless
  • -Very heavy after long sessions

I use these every single day across my iPhone, MacBook, and iPad and the seamless device switching is something I didn't know I needed until I had it. The audio quality is the best I've heard from wireless headphones — the Spatial Audio on Apple TV+ is genuinely cinematic. Yes they're heavy and yes the case is absurd, but the overall experience in the Apple world is unmatched. I'd buy them again without hesitation if you're an Apple household.

Overpriced and overrated for what you get

Pros

  • +Undeniably excellent sound quality
  • +Build feels incredibly premium

Cons

  • -ANC not better than Sony XM5 at half the price
  • -Smart Case is a joke
  • -Neck strain from weight

I own the Sony XM5, Bose QC Ultra, and now these — and I have to say, the AirPods Max don't justify the price differential unless you're fully committed to Apple. The sound is excellent, no question, but the Sony matches or beats it depending on genre. The ANC is good but not markedly better than the competition. The case is an embarrassment for a $550 product. If Apple integration is everything to you, fine. Otherwise the value proposition just isn't there.

Best thing I own — but only because I'm all-in on Apple

Pros

  • +Just works perfectly with all my devices
  • +Looks stunning
  • +Comfort is good once you adjust the headband

Cons

  • -Too heavy for the gym
  • -Expensive — hard to justify to non-Apple users

My whole family uses Apple products and these headphones integrate so naturally it feels like magic. I put them on and my iPhone audio immediately transfers without pressing anything. The sound is warm, rich, and detailed without being fatiguing. They are heavy — I notice it after about two hours — but the comfort is otherwise really good. I don't regret the purchase at all, though I understand why non-Apple users would be frustrated by the price for what they get.
