Accidental Touch Controls

ANC is jaw-dropping — my office disappeared

Pros

  • +Noise cancellation is genuinely remarkable
  • +All-day comfort with no hotspots
  • +Battery outlasts my workday easily

Cons

  • -Touch controls too twitchy
  • -Case could be better quality

I work in a loud open-plan office and these headphones completely changed my productivity. The ANC is not just good — it's almost eerie how much it eliminates. HVAC, coworkers chatting, construction outside — all gone. I wear them 6-8 hours a day and my ears never hurt. The touch controls are the only thing I hate; I keep accidentally skipping tracks when I push the headphones back on my ears. But that's a minor gripe on an otherwise outstanding product.

Great headphones, but I miss the fold-flat design

Pros

  • +Sound signature is superb for the price
  • +Multipoint Bluetooth works reliably
  • +Fast charging is a lifesaver

Cons

  • -No fold-flat is a real downgrade from XM4
  • -Wind noise ruins outdoor calls

I upgraded from the XM4 and the sound quality improvement is real but subtle. The ANC is noticeably better, especially on mid-range frequencies like voices. What I can't forgive is removing the fold-flat hinge. I travel constantly and now the case takes up twice as much space in my backpack. Call quality outdoors is also genuinely bad — anyone I call while walking outside complains about wind noise immediately. For stationary listening, these are phenomenal. For travel and calls, the XM4 was better overall.

Decent, but Bose edges it out for call quality

Verified

Pros

  • +Excellent passive isolation even with ANC off
  • +Comfortable ear cups
  • +Very good app with EQ options

Cons

  • -Call microphone not as clear as Bose QC Ultra
  • -Slight hiss on very quiet recordings

I compared these side-by-side with the Bose QC Ultra before buying. For music listening, the Sony wins — richer bass and better EQ customization. For calls, the Bose is significantly better and I often have to repeat myself on the Sony. The app is excellent and the ambient sound mode is very natural. Overall these are great headphones that I use daily, but if your primary use is calls and video meetings, I'd recommend checking out the Bose instead.
