Recurring Issues

Common problems reported by multiple verified buyers

Notch Design Controversy

61 mentions

The dual-camera cutout notch in the display is unusual for a tablet and criticized for interrupting full-screen content viewing. No option to hide it without black bars.

Android App Scaling

49 mentions

Many Android apps still aren't optimized for large-tablet screen sizes, displaying as stretched phone apps or with wide letterboxing on the 14.6-inch display.

Weight for Handheld Use

37 mentions

At 732g, holding the Tab S9 Ultra one-handed for extended periods is genuinely fatiguing. Most users report needing a stand or keyboard case for regular use.

The best Android tablet, hands down

Verified
By Brandon K.Owned 7 monthsintermediate user2025-10-04

Pros

  • +Screen is stunning for movies and drawing
  • +S Pen is excellent and included
  • +DeX mode is surprisingly good for work

Cons

  • -Notch is annoying during full-screen video
  • -Too heavy to hold for long

I switched from iPad Pro to the Tab S9 Ultra because I wanted to stay in the Android ecosystem and this is simply the best Android tablet available. The 14.6-inch AMOLED screen is incredible for streaming — Netflix and YouTube look absolutely gorgeous. The S Pen is included in the box which is a major point compared to Apple's extra-cost accessories. DeX mode genuinely impressed me; I can get real work done on this with a keyboard. The notch is the only real design complaint — it interrupts movies in a weird way.

Great hardware let down by Android app quality

Verified
By Vivian L.Owned 4 monthsexpert user2025-12-16

Pros

  • +Hardware is genuinely premium
  • +Performance is blazing fast
  • +Included S Pen is great

Cons

  • -Most apps aren't designed for this screen size
  • -Notch is strange on a tablet
  • -Weighs a ton

I own both this and an iPad Pro M3 and use them for the same tasks. The hardware comparison is close — Samsung's screen is bigger and beautiful, and S Pen is excellent. But almost every app I use for work looks noticeably better and more polished on iPadOS. The Android versions of Microsoft Office, Adobe apps, and note-taking tools consistently have fewer features or worse optimization for tablet screens. If you're primarily using Samsung's own apps and Google services, it's fantastic. For third-party professional apps, the iPad still wins.

My bed tablet is perfect — screen is magnificent

Declared
By Tyler B.Owned 5 monthsbeginner user2026-01-30

Pros

  • +Best TV watching experience I've had on a tablet
  • +Battery lasts through entire movies plus more
  • +Samsung Pay and face unlock are seamless

Cons

  • -Too heavy to hold up watching in bed for long
  • -Price is very high for what I use it for

I bought this mainly for streaming and it's incredible for that. The 14.6-inch screen makes it feel like a portable TV and the AMOLED makes everything look vivid and cinematic. The speakers are loud and clear — a proper sound system for a tablet. My only complaint is that holding it for a full movie in bed is tiring because it's so heavy. I now keep it on a stand on my nightstand and it's perfect. For pure media consumption on a big screen, nothing matches this. For work, I'd probably get the iPad instead.
